A Post Entitled Best/Worst of 2009.
In keeping with the tradition I started last year, here’s my top ten list of best events in 2009 and worst events of 2009, ranked in the order that they most impacted my life.
The Best Events of 2009:
- Kaia and I took a road trip. (August 20-October 12)
- I got accepted and attended the Summer Solstice Writers’ Conference at Pine Manor College in Boston. (June 21-27)
- Mary Catherine and I took a road trip to the Avett Brothers show in Birmingham, Alabama. (April 25)
- I went a year without eating meat, thus solidifying my vegetarianism as a long-term goal rather than a phase. (October 20)
- I got back into tennis and did pretty well. (January-August)
- I won the Beebe Poker Classic. (December 18)
- I got my second tattoo. (August 16)
- My coworkers at Alltel/Verizon threw me an awesome divorce shower (May 29)
- George W. Bush left the oval office for good. (January 20)
- Wig threw his tennis racket over a fence and hit a car during our most well-attended match. (April 5)
The Worst Events of 2009
- Ashley and I divorced. (March-the rest of my life.)
- Life sucked. (April-May, give or take a few months.)
- I got laid off. (July 7)
- I bought a truck. (February 12)
- I had to quit my job managing a hometown bar. (October-November)
- I didn’t Tumble much in October or November. It really stifles my overall creativity when that happens. (October-November)
- Jenny launched an all-out war on cell phones. (March 4, March 25, March 28)
- I got bitten by a dog. (August 9)
- I went 0-3 at the end of the year after going 10-2 in my Fantasy league that really mattered. (December 13)
- I stopped playing tennis. (August-December)
